Youth Employment Project: Vacancy for Civil Society and Communications Expert

The Youth Employment Project (YEP) is a technical assistance project supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The project has 3 main components: (1): Improved performance of the Public Employment Service; (2): Increased access of disadvantaged youth to employment services; and (3): Enhanced relevance of youth employment issues in the public space of BiH. The project office is in Sarajevo.

The project is seeking to recruit a full-time national expert to work with the established project team, and to help design and guide a new initiative in cooperation with a number of youth-focused NGOs. This is aimed at motivating young people in designated areas of BiH to greater levels of job-seeking activities, and community involvement. Publicity for this initiative will be an important factor in its success: therefore, we are looking for candidates who combine civil society experience with experience in planning and coordinating communications and media programmes. The appointment will be from early October 2013 to end September 2014 initially, with the possibility of continuation depending on the availability of project funding.

The preferred candidate should possess the following skills and competences:

  • Previous experience in working with NGOs (minimum 5 years);
  • Previous experience in designing civil society programmes (preferably with a youth-focus);
  • Previous experience in designing and managing communications and media programmes (minimum 2 years);
  • Excellent team-working skills;
  • Excellent communications skills;
  • Good report-writing skills;
  • English language skills are essential.

You may apply by e-mail to Amela Gajic (Ova adresa el. pošte je zaštićena od spambotova. Omogućite JavaScript da biste je vidjeli. ) in the YEP office. Applications must be in English and must comprise:

(i) a current CV in Europass format; and

(ii) a personal statement (in not more than 150 words) highlighting why you believe you are best-suited for this position. A Europass CV template is available to download from the YEP website (www.yep.ba): this includes space at the end for the personal statement. Applications must be received by noon on 23 September 2013 in order to be considered. Only short-listed candidates will be contacted, and invited to attend for interview.
